REFUGEES – 4. ESO A (BILINGUAL STREAM)

4th year ESO students have worked very hard on the topic of Refugees for some weeks during the 2nd and the 3rd terms.

This project actually consisted of two different parts: in the first one students worked on the media and the world of journalism in general by means of several tasks. The second part of the project deals with the main topic of Refugees, present in everyday newspapers and TV news. Photographies, videos, pieces of news, songs, poems… have been used to make pupils aware of this huge problem. World Press Photo, Bana Alabed, A Journey from Afghanistan are concepts the teenagers will become familiar with.

Students had, among others, two final tasks. As for the first part, they had to record the news for a TV channel. Each pupil had a different role: Bárbara and Jesús were the anchors, Jesús was the correspondent, Naiara was in charge of the sports section, Iris was resposible for the weather and Raquel was a really famous TV presenter in the gossip world! This activity was hilarious and the students loved it! (and their teacher, too ;)

As for the second part, they had to prepare a PPT with information about refugees: definition, figures, countries involved… and they had to choose a photo, film or song which provoked feelings on them. They were in front of the class and told us a lof of useful information. Here’s what they did!!
